Kayak Slalom
- May 1st, 2009
White water canoe or kayak slalom is an Olympic sport with a global following. It’s a time trial event, the objective being to negotiate a river course marked out by a series of suspended poles, known as gates. There are races over most weekends in the UK from February until October for all levels of competitor. Novice events are held on flat water or gently moving rivers, the level of difficulty increasing until at International or Olympic standard, the course is set on the toughest and fastest flowing river sections.
The best way to find out more about canoe slalom is through a club. The most popular website for finding a location near you is at the Canoe Slalom website. Details of clubs and events are regularly posted there.
If you’re in the north east of England, we can help you get started with canoe slalom. You don’t need to have any previous experience or equipment, as we can supply equipment and BCU approved instructors to help you learn. If you’d like to know more, check out of pages showing training times, or fill out or contact form and we’ll get back to you.

Hello,
I’m a freelance sports photographer (semi-pro) and shoot football and cricket on a regular basis for local and national press and am always looking to cover other sports to broaden my experience.
Should you wish to see them, my sports pages are at: http://www.pk4images.com/menus/sportmenu.asp
I wondered if you had anyone doing action pictures? With the Tees Barrage so close I’ve been meaning to contact someone for a while about photographs but have struggled to find details of clubs, events, competitions etc. (I found this site through the ARC mailer).
If you have any competitions/events etc coming up and would like pictures I’d be pleased to cover one or two just for the experience.
Cheers
Paul Gaythorpe
Looking at starting out on the water and I really like the look of this club, I guess it looks more friendliest. How do I go about getting involved? Helpppppp
