Tees Tigers were asked to lend a hand at Preston Farm with the Stockton Charity Duck Race in return for having the pitch areas for the Canoe Polo National Championships coming up in a few weeks time. All we had to do was provide 3 people to fish ducks out at the end of the race, simple, or maybe not!!!
Andy Rhu, Brandon and Beth kindly volunteered to to the job and met at the centre to lend a hand before disappearing off up the river to help the duck race go swimmingly, if only they could swim (the ducks that is!). The Teesside Princess dropped the ducks into the water so they could make their way down to the finish, but unfortunately they made their way upstream with the wind providing more force than the flow! The Teesside Princess made an attempt to encourage the birds downstream, but unintentionally directed a large proportion of the creatures into the bushes by the banks…
Having ushered a number of the ducks to the finishline our team set about the challenge of catching them all, with net in hand they proceeded to pluck the ducks from the water…
…several hours later they were still at it, fishing around in thorn covered bushes for the last remaining ducks, covered in scratches and scrapes. I could tell that Andy had enjoyed it as when I asked him whether he had he stated that it would be nice if someone else could enjoy the experience next year!

Thought we should include our very own Tiger Duck!
