Tigers representing GB at Charleroi

Two of our Tiger boys, Matt Fletcher and Ross Martin, have been selected to represent Great Britain in the Under 21s Canoe Polo team for this year’s international summer tournaments.
Here Ross reviews their first weekend away:

3 wins and 4 losses in Charleroi - a great competition for the start of the season. This was Matt’s second year representing GB and my first year.
The three wins were hard work but we managed as a team to pull them off thanks to some good shots.  The losses were close but the main thing that the team came away with was the experience.  And it was the first tournament as this selected team so under the circumstances it was a great weekend.
So well played to the team, and thanks to a good coach!  Bring on the rest of the tournaments!

Youth Local League - 8th January 2011

After having to cancel the first tournament due to the bad weather back in December, we were pleased to get this tournament up and running.  Youth teams came from all over the North East to get some more experience playing polo against people of a similar age.  The tournament went well with strong performances from all the paddlers particularly those fairly new to the sport.  Thanks goes to all those who supported the event.  Hopefully all the teams will now enter the National Champs that Tees Tigers are running again this year at the Watersports Centre in Stockton in July.  Read on for the full results. A committee meeting like no other…

In the run up to the A-team’s first tournament of the year, there was talk of “new team colours”.  The first I saw of them was at the committe meeting on the Tuesday before this tournament.  To be honest it was a good job someone mentioned to Duncan that he was now playing for the Tigers, given that he was planing on turning up with a sorry looking boat and shredded fablon.  Those years of playing Uni polo and a season for Pennine have clearly lowered his standard (I thought he was gonna have a few games for White Rose!).
